The computers are against me today and it's a wee bit frustrating. First, I downloaded the new Peter Bjorn and John album this morning and transferred it to my iPod. It showed on the iTunes screen that it had transferred, but after disconnecting, the music wasn't there. I plugged my iPod in again and tried to transfer the songs again, but now it says that it can't find them. Awesome.
Now at work, it is taking forever to log onto anything and somebody (Fronte?) keeps disconnecting my internet cable from my lab computer, so I try to get on and it gives an error message. Then, I realize what has been done, plug it back in, log off, and go in again. Awesome.
On a completely different note, Happy Anniversary Lindy, I love you!

Around the water cooler
They have taken away the good water here at work. We used to have nice fresh water that came straight from the teat of a huge jug atop a dispenser. It was delicious. It was refreshing. Now we have a cap on top of the dispenser with a note saying we have tap water with a filter. It is not delicious. We still drink it, but not with as much joy as we once had. Water cooler talk is now solely about the water and the crappiness of it. A certain wiseman advised me this morning, "Please flush twice. It's a long way to the water cooler."
Radiohead
When my iPod battery dies at work or I forget it at home, I put on my Pandora station and it often hits a Radiohead song. I have long said that I don't like Radiohead, but what the fuck, I'm starting to like them after only a bit more than a decade. Over the years, they've had a track here or there that I like, but now most of their stuff that comes across my work speakers is pleasing to my ears. First the iTunes and now this, who am I, why am I here?

The Vogue
I just got an email from the Vogue about their upcoming shows (they suck) and saw at the bottom of the page that all ticket shows are now non-smoking (that doesn't suck). I've only been to one show there in the past year and I seem to remember people smoking, but I can't be sure. Anyway, now I won't have to deal with smoking frat boys pissing me off, just regular, drunk frat boys.

iTunes purchases and Borders
So this weekend I broke down and bought two albums on iTunes and two cds at Borders. I've bought a few songs here and there with gift cards, but I always get full albums on cd. It's just a habit, but now I may have broken myself of it. I like the artwork and being able to listen to them in my car, but my sweet iPod touch shows me the artwork and cds seem to going the way of the cassette. Our Borders is selling off all of their music section. Everything is 40% off and the music section is shrinking. It looks like they're making a big young adult section to fill with Twilight books. Anyway, the only places to find the cds I want are Amazon and Luna. Luna is expensive and if they don't have what I want, then I went downtown for nothing. Amazon doesn't give the instant gratification I crave. So I sat on Saturday in front of a monitor and broke from the shackles of the compact disc. I downloaded the new albums from Elvis Perkins in Dearland and the Decemberists. I must say it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Plus, I can always burn them if I want and our printer does a good job with album artwork. There are 3 or 4 more albums coming out over the next 3 weeks and I will probably go the iTunes route with them too. Look at me, I'm growing. It only took having an iPod for about 6 years to do it.
Where the Wild Things Are

Here are some pics from the movie. I'm pretty excited about taking the boys to see it when it comes out. Also, Dave Eggers helped write the screenplay, woohoo!

The Dead Weather
Thanks to Jess for leading me to this, but also, what the fuck is up with pitchfork.com? I thought they hadn't been updating all week, then if you click on their news link, there's all kinds of stuff. Anyway, Jack White apparently is in a third band now where he plays drums and sings.

The band is The Dead Weather and the album comes out in June. You can check out two tracks on their website:

The Longest Show on Earth
This past Friday I went with Logan's preschool class to the Shiner's Circus at the State Fair Grounds. Logan and the kids were all excited about tigers and elephants and trapeze artists and all that stuff. When we got there, we saw that every school in the state was there for this free show. We waited in line for awhile, but when we got in we grabbed some pretty good seats and found out from the ringmaster that we would be entertained for 2 hours. Yes, 2 hours. First we had a clown that kept dropping his hat. Then we had lion and tiger tamers that made the tigers role over and jump through hoops. We were supposed to clap with the rolling over. Then Logan said, "Can we go home?" I told him we had to stay a bit longer. Next came some trapeze artists, some family that launched each other not really that high in the air, some pretty boring jugglers, three people who walked on balls ( one of the ladies fell off on a ramp and seemed to get hurt a bit, so that was ok ), a hot lady dressed in Indian garb who balanced stuff on her chin, another Indian themed thing where a girl made a Shetland pony walk around the ring, seriously, and another request from Logan to go home. I looked at my cell phone and saw that only an hour had passed. It felt like three. Two acts involved three geriatric ladies doing "magic." Their first act had then making things disappear then reappear (oooooh). Their second act took us on a trip around the world, which meant they dressed up miniature poodles in sequin gowns and made them prance up and down a runway. It was tortuous. The only thing that kept me sane was another parent who apparently has a similar twisted sense of humor. So to Erica's mom, I say thanks. To Logan, I say thank you too, since he said after leaving, "Let's not do that again." No problem buddy.

Reaper is back!!!
Tonight at 8 on the CW Reaper makes its long awaited return. It's been gone for about 9 months, so there is a good shot that people have forgotten about it, which would mean another great show gone the way of Pushing Daisies. Please watch tonight!
