Well, we're back home after a really good Thanksgiving. My friend Sachin joined us at my parents house and made instant friends with Connor. As my parents said, he is welcome back anytime.
The food was all good and there were four different kinds of desserts so I think we are all a bit full.
We played some games and my dad pinned me twice in the Vaught family wrestling tradition. It's not really wrestling though since he kicks my ass in less than a minute everytime.
Happy Turkey Day!

Sporcle country quiz
I did it! All 195 countries! The last one I got was Colombia. I don't know why I forgot it the first time through. YES!
Games and stuff
I've really been slacking on this site lately. I went back and looked at previous years and it looks like the fall is my slowest time for posting. Isn't that interesting? No, I didn't think so. I guess with the year end slow down at work, everything else slows down too.
I beat the new Call of Duty last night. Oohwee, that's a crazy game. Very fun, but also pretty damn short. Luckily, it has the special ops section. Well, not so lucky for Lindy.
I grabbed Dead Space the other day at a buy 2 get 1 free used sale at Gamestop. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but it's supposed to be fun.
See this, is how exciting things are around Indianapolis right now. You're reading about me playing a video game and getting a new one. I'm going to ratchet up the tension now...
I finished reading The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti the other day. It started off a bit slow, but I couldn't put it down towards the end. It's about an orphan in the 1800s who gets taken out of the orphanage by a guy who says he's his older brother. The guy turns out to be a con artist and a thief, but then again the kid likes to steal too. There is mystery, grave robbing, a mousetrap factory, and a group of thugs called the Hat Boys. What more could you want?
I have no new music to report. Wait, I saw the video for the new Vampire Weekend song and it was pretty cool. Other than that, I'm just waiting for the 80s electronica throwbacks to pass on by. Except for Matt and Kim, I like them.
If you liked The Station Agent, go rent The Visitor. It's written and directed by the same guy and is very good. It's about a college professor in Connecticut who has an apartment in NYC that he doesn't use very often. When he has to go to the city for a conference, he finds two immigrants living there. He gets entwined in their lives and hilarity ensues. Oh wait, no it doesn't, it's just sweet, yet sad movie.
Anywho, Happy Thanksgiving. Go out and give a Native American some foreign disease and steal his land. That's how we always celebrate. That and turkey.

AC/DC
The boys have redeemed themselves a bit tonight. Connor was rocking out to AC/DC on youtube and Logan liked "Back in Black" and "T.N.T." Why won't AC/DC put out a greatest hits cd? Why won't they put their music on itunes?
Southside Indy Man Loses His Fu**ing Mind - Tonight at 11
Lindy is in Cleveland. I'm here with two insane children by my lonesome. The bigger one has apparently gone deaf as he seems to not hear me telling him to stop jumping all over the goddamn furniture. The little one crapped in the bathtub... again. 8 o'clock cannot come soon enough.

#23
Lebron James is giving up the number 23 in honor of Michael Jordan. That's pretty damn cool, but I have to agree with Stan van Gundy, Jordan isn't Jackie Robinson and the idea of the league retiring his number is pretty ridiculous. He is the greatest basketball player ever, but I'd leave it at that.

The evil internet
I've been sounding like an old codger for years now talking about how the internet does more harm than good. Now others are starting to say the same thing:
http://2010.newsweek.com/essay/a-decade-of-destruction.html
This article is mostly about it's impact on various industries throughout the world.
Not to sound like some doomsday bellringer, but the internet in all it's glory is dehumanizing us. Of course, here I am talking about it on a blog.

Nervous belly
I don't know why but my gut is all knotty. It could be end of the year jitters but that doesn't feel right. I'm strangely nervous about Obama not getting things done fast enough to appease the nation, but that too can't be all of it. I feel more and more like my job is in jeopardy, so that's probably it. Might just be a combo of everything, but it sucks.
I started reading Beat the Reaper this week and it's pretty good so far. It's about a medical resident who is in the witness relocation program after being a mafia hitman. It's entertaining and that's always good.
If you like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, check out Alec Ounsworth's new album Mo Beauty. It was recorded in New Orleans and has a few Katrina related songs. It's hit and miss, but the hits are really good.
I also got Modern Warfare 2 yesterday and man alive, it's fun.
As for new tv, watch Modern Family and Community. Best new comedies by far. Flashforward is entertaining too, but it's no Lost.
Who's ready for Mad Men to start again? Holy crap what a great finale.
We're late to the Breaking Bad party but we recently watched the first season on DVD and I'm adding it to the favorites list. It's suspenseful, funny, and well acted. Great great show.
Now I'm off to bathe the kids and hopefully get them to bed soon after.
Oh, and I got my first two rolls of Holga pics back and they're pretty cool. I'm still waiting on the color roll.

Going Rouge

This is fantastic. It looks like some fake crap that you'd get in a forward, but it's not. They're releasing it on the same day as Palin's book. Man I hope some crazies pick up the wrong book.

Hellraiser
Last night was Halloween and our tradition of having Jess over and watching old horror movies after the kids go to bed was continued this year. Last night it was Hellraiser. We missed the first 20 minutes or so, but holy shit, that movie is a mess. Guy escapes from hell (assumed), manly woman lures lonely guys back to house for hell escapee to kill, oozy guy uses dead guys to reform himself, younger girl with unfortunate jeans opens a Pandora's box of sorts and brings back four demons, said demons take guy back to hell after nailing him with hooks on chains, unfortunate jeans girl puts box back together and sends demons back to hell, guy with awesome handpainted shirt arrives at the end, demon bird skeleton hobo takes box, said box appears to now be in the Middle East or in a northern African marketplace. There's your 1987 Clive Barker horror in a nutshell.
I also turned it on some crappy slasher movie hoping to see some boobies and all I got was a girl's ass. It wasn't even a good ass.
All in all, it was another great Halloween. Kids got candy. We gave out alot of candy. I ate some candy. Hooray!
