I loved the Lost finale and now, here's some cool extra news. When the season is released on DVD, there will be an epilogue of sorts detailing the time Hurley and Ben were running the show. YES!
By the way, see Crazy Heart if you get a chance. It's quite good and Jeff Bridges is fantastic in it (probably why he won the Oscar).

Pearl Jam + BOH
At a recent show, Pearl Jam brought out the lead singer of Band of Horses to sing Temple of the Dog's "Hunger Strike." That would have been pretty cool here.

Hey Texas, please leave.
The Texas Board of Education is looking to change some points in their school's history books. They want the books to say that the Founding Fathers were guided by Christian principles and shine a light on the Moral Majority, NRA, and other GOP talking points. They want to minimize Thomas Jefferson's impact on the nation since he was an advocate of the separation of church and state. Jefferson was a genius and they want to minimize him? They want to do this in the name of promoting patriotism (NATIONALISM!) but it sounds like the kind of brainwashing and propaganda we've accused governments in the Middle-East, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, etc. of using. Ever since 9/11 this country has been on a backward slide into rampant fanaticism. The extreme Christian right is out of control.
So to you Texas, and hell, let's throw Arizona in there too, please secede. Take the Evangelicals with you too. We won't miss you.

Remember the Alamo
Why do Mexican restaurants close and reopen under new names? There is one on the south side that has been renamed at least five times. Now there is another one close to our house that is getting ready to reopen. Any answers are welcome? Is it a tax thing?
Some books
Here are a few quick book reviews for you:
Tinkers by Paul Harding - Very well written, but it's not the easiest read. It's the story of a man on his deathbed intertwined with the story of his epileptic father who left his family when said deathbed ridden man was still a child. Somewhat gloomy, no? It won the Pulitzer this year.
A Reliable Wife by Goolrick - This was pretty meh. Set in a dreary Wisconsin town in winter, a wealthy man places an ad in the paper for "a reliable wife." Said wife gets to him with the intent of slowly killing him to get to his money. A few twists here and there, but it didn't ever really grab me. I got through it pretty quickly, but there were a few drawn out passages. The book probably could've been shortened by about 50pgs and it's already less than 300.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Larsson - I'm a bit late to this one, but it was very good. Since it's a mystery, that's all I will say. I burned through the last 200pgs though.

Arizona, what the f**k is wrong with you?
First, they sign an insane anti-immigration law and now the governor has signed a bill banning ethnic studies classes in schools. I know they used to not acknowledge MLK day either. So to you Arizona, what the fuck? Illegal immigrants aren't the ones committing crimes in this country. Their crime rate is 1/3 that of the rest of the country. Why do you care about educating our children about other cultures? Why the move to dumb our nation down? Why make our kids ignorant, racist, Fox "news" robots? Please stop this idiotic behavior. Stop being afraid. Most of the people coming into this country are just trying to make better lives for themselves and their families. That's the American dream is it not?
As a good friend once said, "You know what the problem with white people is? They're too goddamn white." Hell, I'm white and when I see the way Arizona is acting, I agree completely. Arizona, you need to accept the fact that brown people live in a country just to the south of you. They come here and do the jobs that we Americans feel we are too good for. It's true. People like those at Fox "news" would have you believe that illegals come here and take our jobs and are a drain on America. But then again, Fox "news" is run by a bunch of racist fucks who will say anything for ratings. Look at how many people take unemployment before they'll go out and get a job cutting grass, working in a hellish field, or cleaning buildings. Hopefully the Feds will step in and take care of this. But in the meantime Arizona, go to hell.

A sea of cowards awaits me
My day has been frustrating as shit so far. On top of not being able to get a few compounds pure, I get to take Logan to the dentist to get a cavity filled today. So, I'm hoping that the new Dead Weather album will be sitting in my mailbox in all it's 180gram vinyl glory when I get home. If it's not, I might crack.

A bit off
Something is wrong with me today. I can't pin it down, but I just feel off. A little dizzy, kind of like my mind is standing a few inches behind my body. It's a very strange feeling. Even a friend at work noticed that I looked a bit different today. Maybe I got abducted by aliens last night. Maybe this is like The 6th Day and I'm just a clone of myself. Maybe they're pumping some experimental chemical weapon into my lab. Maybe I was bitten by a vampire. Maybe I'm finally getting my period. Maybe I just have a weird bug. It's a mystery for the ages.
By the way, The 6th Day isn't a very good movie.

No offense
Wow, Elena Kagan, the next in line for the Supreme Court, sure looks like a bad crossdresser.

Seriously, it's like Horatio Sanz dressed like a woman or something.
If she gets in, here's hoping she's better than some of the other Justices.
