Whales eating whales!

Viva Paraguay!

Ah the World Cup. Not only do you get great football, but ladies get to see hot soccer players. Guys, on the other hand, get the occasional crowd shots with fans like this.
Thank you Paraguay!

OH OH OH

A lady might be jailed for having sex too loud. The neighbors complained about being woken at midnight and then listening to unnatural sounds for upwards of three hours. It also says that passersby and the postman would hear them too. Hahahaha.

Oh the pain

Germany blasted the Three Lions of England 4-1. Rooney was a no show. The defense was horrible. Gerrard either overcooked his passes or didn't put enough on them. Lampard got fucked out of a goal and then later nailed a free kick off the crossbar. What would have happened had it been 2-2 at halftime?

Now both the US and England are out. I have to back either Germany or Argentina now.

Music music music

First, the Shout Out Louds latest effort Work is only $3.99 on amazon today in their MP3 store. I bought it when it came out and have enjoyed it thoroughly.

Second, on Tuesday night I hung up my old age and went to see Ezra Furman and the Harpoons at Radio, Radio. Jess was there! Sachin was there! Three of Jess's friends were there and I met them! They were the second act, but should have been the headliner. They stayed away from the slower songs, were funny, and simply had great stage presence. I don't go to many shows anymore because Indy doesn't get the bands they used to, but my goodness, this was a fun one. I smiled non-stop throughout the set. I sang. I danced a bit in my awkward, three beers, white, 32-year-old way. Afterwards, I stole away to the back lot and paid my respects. Hell, I may have been a bit stalkerish, but who cares. If you ever see that Ezra Furman and the Harpoons are coming to your town, buy the ticket and have a blast.

Father's Day 2010

I have to say that this Father's Day, my 6th as a dad, has been by far the best one yet. My day started with muffins and coffee in bed while watching some World Cup action. We went to the early Toy Story 3 and I highly recommend it. It's funny, sad, poignant, and just all around great. I'll admit that at the end I was this close to crying. Then, it was on to Borders to use my 40% off coupon. After that we went to my mom and dad's for lunch and swimming. We got home around 4, I did a bit of laundry and then hung out with Connor and played on my ipod while Lindy worked on a paper and Logan watched cartoons. So let's recap, breakfast in bed, soccer, a great movie, new books, swimming, and kids acting perfectly. That's a pretty damn good day.

Red cards everywhere

What is going on with the refs in the World Cup? Red cards are flying like crazy. Are the vuvuzelas driving them mad?

Tim Peeler saw Bigfoot

I watched it without sound, but from what I could gather, he tried to poke it with a stick.

Vuvuzelas can suck it

So far this World Cup, I've watched four games and have enjoyed the soccer for the most part (Uruguay v France was awful). The South Koreans and Germans showed some great skills during their matches. The US v England was fun to watch even though the US goal was weak weak weak and Rooney didn't get many chances. The part of the tournament that needs to die though is the vuvuzela. Holy shit is it annoying. If they want to have those things blaring when South Africa plays, whatever, but when I'm watching every other team, I don't want to hear them. I want the roar of the crowd. I want the Brits chanting and singing. I don't want it to sound like a massive swarm of bees is descending on the field. We all knew they would be a problem after watching the Confederations Cup and I'm all for seeing the local culture, but FIFA needs to step in and take them away.

Monkey balls

Turn up the volume... well maybe not so much at work. Thanks to Mr. J for this.

Conan and Jack

Why can't Nashville be a bit closer? Is there a possibility of Meg being there? Hmm...

Fu**ing golf carts

There are three houses in my neighborhood with golf carts. Guess what? We don't live on a golf course. Our neighborhood is pretty small, but we have teenage girls driving expensive ass carts all around instead of walking or riding a bike or jumping on a pogo stick or having their older boyfriends drive them. It's really fucking annoying.

Idiots on the road

Today I was driving when I saw a car with this bumper sticker on it. Shockingly enough, an old, white man was driving with his old, white wife sitting beside him. I wanted a chance to ask them if they had given up Social Security and Medicare to really show the government how they feel. I even rolled down my window to give them a chance to yell something at me due to the Obama sticker on my car. I bet they get on their computer and believe all the right-wing bullshit propaganda their old, white friends e-mail to them. I'd also bet two-bits that if the government decided to end all of the "socialist" programs, they'd be first in line to bitch and moan about how they couldn't survive without the help. I'd go even further and bet a shiny, buffalo nickel that if Obama's last name was Smith and he was a handsome, white fella, no sticker would be found upon their car. This country is regressing at an alarming rate.

Only 5 days until World Cup 2010

Only 6 until the England v USA game.

I might be from the states, but I love me some British football.

Dale Peterson

This is pretty funny. It's a shocker this guy didn't win.

Happy Birthday Lindy

Happy 31st birthday! Hopefully work goes well and the kids aren't assholes tonight. I love you!

The Walking Dead

AMC kicks ass. First Mad Men and Breaking Bad, now they are making Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead into a series.

The comic book series is fantastic, so here's hoping they do it some justice.

Plus, check me out, I finally figured out how to successfully embed videos. Woohoo. I updated a few older posts too.

Joran van der Sloot

Yeesh, remember this guy from the Natalee Holloway case? Now he's been detained for the killing of a Peruvian woman. He may have a penchant for killing young women and his deceased dad was a judge in Aruba. It's like a bad mystery novel.

Almost perfect

Last night almost gave us another perfect game in baseball. That would have been the third of this season and only the 21st in the history of the major league. Galarraga was in the ninth inning with two outs and the ump blew a call on first that would have given him a perfect game. The ump admitted to the blown call and now there the replay debate has been reignited. Also, many people are calling for Selig to reverse the call and give Galarraga his perfect game.

Personally, I'm against both. Blown calls and umps are part of the game. It sucks, but if umps were perfect what fun would that be. Who doesn't like to bitch about how an ump is calling balls and strikes? Plays like this happen. The guy was obviously out after watching the replay, but once the play has happened, it's happened. The Tigers won, Galarraga got screwed, the ump gave a tearful apology for the call, and now it's on to the next bullshit call to get the fans riled up.

Ezra Furman and the Harpoons

Hey, to the 5 or so regular readers of this blog. Ezra Furman and the Harpoons will be playing Radio, Radio here in Indy on Tuesday June 22nd. It's $10. I'll be there, if anyone else wants to join me that would be swell.

Really?

Just what every young boy hopes for his mom: a small bikini, high heels, and his friends beating off to her.

Memorial Day weekend

Here's hoping that the five or so regular readers had a great long weekend. Ours was pretty good. We got a free fancy dinner courtesy of my dad. We went swimming a couple of times. I bought Lindy a new swing for our deck, built it in the sweltering heat, and got a weird patterned sunburn from trying to put sunscreen on my back myself. I traded in a few video games and got "Red Dead Redemption" for $15 at Gamestop. Holy shit is that game awesome. Lindy, the boys, Josie and I all fell asleep while watching King Kong and had a fantastic nap. In other words, I'd rather not be at work right now.
